Man booked for raping minor

SURAT: A 28-year-old man was booked for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl living in his neighbouring locality in Pal.
Parents of the survivor got to know about the rape after she got pregnant and was hospitalized. The six-month-old foetus had died. They lodged a complaint against the accused Nilesh Kanoje who lives in EWS Colony in the area. The accused is yet to be arrested.
Kanoje had allegedly raped the minor at his house but police suspect that they had an affair.
Police booked him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including rape, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) and Prevention of Atrocities Act.
The minor is currently unconscious and admitted to a hospital. Her health is stable and police will question her once she regain consciousness. The girl’s father is a watchman.
“We are searching for the accused who is on the run. We will arrest him soon,” said police.
