Surat: The CID crime recovered Rs 18 lakh cash and a mobile phone containing five bitcoins from Manoj Kyada, one of the arrested accused, in connection with the bitcoin extortion case in which city-based builder Shailesh Bhatt is the prime accused.
According to police, the value of five bitcoins is around Rs 25 lakh.
Police also took the custody for Nikunj Bhatt and Dilip Kanani, who are already in judicial custody in Lajpore Central Jail, on Saturday for cross questioning in the presence of three persons arrested on Friday. Nikunj and Kanani were arrested earlier in the kidnapping and extortion of Piyush Savaliya and Dhaval Mavani. A fresh complaint was registered by CID crime against Bhatt, who was the complainant in the earlier extortion case in which Amreli superintendent of police Jagdish Patel was arrested.
Bhatt, who is still out of police reach, moved a local court on Saturday seeking anticipatory bail .
Police had arrested Jignesh Moradiya, Umesh Goswami and Kyada on Friday and produced them in the court. They were remanded to police custody till June 8.
