No kidnapping plaint lodged even after ransom call

Surat: A major negligence of the city police has been exposed in the kidnapping and murder of 19-year-old boy in Limbayat. Preliminary inquiry by senior police officials revealed that Limbayat police did not register the complaint of father of deceased Anwar Shaikh when he approached them after receiving the first ransom call on May 27.
City police commissioner Satish Sharma had suspended police inspector, Limbayat, N D Solanki on Thursday after he was found negligent in duty.
Sharma also ordered a departmental inquiry against Solanki, who is already facing other inquiries. Solanki recently stirred a controversy by keeping kids and women in the lock-up for entire night.
“The inquiry will be carried out by assistant commissioner of police B division. Based on the report, further action will be taken,” Sharma said. The preliminary inquiry revealed that police registered kidnapping complaint of Anwar’s father Akbar on May 28 after his body was found near Vaktana village in Sachin police station limits.
