Diamonds worth Rs 14 lakh looted from Angadia deliveryman in Surat

SURAT: Two unidentified persons were booked in Varachha police station on Monday for allegedly robbing a bag with diamonds worth Rs 14 lakh from an Angadia deliveryman. The robbers snatched the bag when the victim was on road near Sarswati Circle in Varachha.
Hasmukh Patel, employee of Amrat Madha Angadia, was going to his Mini Bazaar office in Varachha after collecting diamond parcels from different diamond traders. He was on his scooter and was on road from Saraswati circle to Mini Bazaar when the robber came from behind and pulled the bag he was carrying on his shoulder at around 7pm. The belt broke and the robbers escaped with the valuables.
Soon Patel alerted his office and also contacted police. Initially, the victim was not able to describe the exact details after which police visited the spot and only after preliminary investigation, the complaint was registered.
As per his routine, Patel was going to his Mini Bazaar office when he was targeted. Police suspect that the robbers were keeping an eye on Patel’s movement during the past few days and after doing recce of his movement, they targeted him.
Police have ordered nakabandhi at strategic locations and various teams have been formed to track the robbers.
