Crane for newly wed couple comes crashing down at Vesu

Surat: A major casualty was averted when a crane came crashing down at a marriage function in the city's Vesu area on Wednesday night. Nobody was injured in the incident.
However, no official complaint or information was reported to the police and the fire department.
Sources said the crane was hired to lift the newly wedded couple at Sai Darshan party plot. Before the couple could embark on the crane, it came crashing down damaging around four to five vehicles parked outside the party plot.
In half an hour the crane was removed with the help of another crane which was called on the spot by the private contractor. Fire sources said that no such incident was reported to the department.
