Municipal school principal, 2 teachers seek bribe, held

Surat: The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested three persons including a school principal and two teachers of a municipal school at Variavi Bazaar for demanding Rs one lakh from a school bus transport contractor in 2016.
The accused had demanded the bribe and for not paying the bribe his contact was discontinued. They were produced in court and the court sent them to judicial custody.
ACB sleuths arrested Lata Dhariya, principal of the school No 111, teachers Ramesh Patel and Bharat Kalal, all three are employed with municipal school at Variavi Bazaar in Muglisara near Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) head office.
The school was under redevelopment hence the arrangement was made to teach students at alternate location. For transporting students the school had hired bus service of the complainant from January to March 2016. He raised bill of Rs 5.36 lakh and for clearing it the accused demanded 30% of the bill amount. After discussion the accused agreed to accept Rs 1 lakh.
The complainant video recorded conversation with the accused on his mobile phone and submitted it to the ACB. After investigation ACB gathered scientific evidences from the audio and video recordings like call data record, voice spectrography and collected documentary evidences. After the detailed investigation ACB lodged the compliant and arrested the accused.
