Suspicious husband stabs woman in neck, on the run

SURAT: A 30-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed in neck by her husband on suspicion that she was having an extramarital affair on Friday night. The accused fled after the attack. The woman was admitted to a hospital and her condition is improving, police said.
Sunil Patel, a resident of Mora Bhagal, was booked by police for attacking Asha near Pramukh Chamber in Rander area at around 10.15pm. The woman, a cleaning worker of Surat Municipal Corporation, was on night scrapping duty when the accused stabbed her with a cutter. She suffered serious injuries in the neck and hand and was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. The accused had covered his face with a handkerchief and threatened to kill her while attacking her.
The woman, who is married to the accused, an autorickshaw driver, for seven years, in her police complaint alleged that he suspected her of having an affair with another man. He had thrashed her many times in the past over the issue, which forced her to separate from him and file cases against the accused. "The accused is yet to be arrested. We are working to trace his location," police said.
