Gujarat: Jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh looted from jewellery shop in Valsad

SURAT: Jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh looted from a jewellery shop in Sarigam of Valsad on Tuesday on a knife point. Two persons suffered injuries in the robbery and police got important clue about involvement of the robbers.
A gang of five robbers have arrived in a car and looted Pooja Jewellers in main bazaar of Sarigam village at around 3.30 pm. Showing their knives the robbers have threatened the shop owner to hand over all the valuables. They injured two persons in the shop to terrorize those inside the shop.
The robbers escaped with seven boxes of jewellery and escaped towards Umargam. Narayanlal Kumbhar, 32, a resident of Sarigam main bazaar lodged the complaint in police. Police have recovered CCTV footages of the shop and started investigation based on it.
"Faces of the robbers are not clearly visible in the CCTV footage recovered. However, police got some specific clues and based on it police are likely to detect the case," said Sunil Joshi, superintendent of police, Valsad.
Faces of the robbers were not covered and they were speaking in Hindi. Police are also investigating the case based on the modus operandi. Police are also checking old CCTV footages of the shop to find out if the robbers have done recce of the shop in recent past.
