SURAT: Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) , Surat division would run 1,000 extra trips during five days of Diwali festivities to different destinations of Saurastra, North and Central Gujarat .
These extra trips would begin from October 14 and run up to October 18 .An official from GSRTC , Surat said, " We already have booked 14 buses in advance online and seven buses under group bookings."
GSRTC , Surat plans to run maximum of 700 trips to tribal areas of Godhra and Panchmahal in Central Gujarat and 300 trips to Saurastra and parts of North Gujarat .
The fare for extra trips would be a little higher than normal fare but when compared to last year it would be 40 per cent less.
Till last year, extra trips cost people 1.65 times then the routine fares where as now it would cost people 1.25 times than the routine fare. These reduction was announced by GSRTC keeping in mind the people's demand .
Many people go to tribal districts of Panchamahal and Godhra from Surat during Diwali and more than 5 lakh go to different parts of Saurastra to their native villages .
