Surat has 5.8 lakh more voters this year when compared to 2012 elections

SURAT: In all 40, 133-61 voters would exercise their franchise on 4397 polling booths set up by election commission in Surat city and district on December 09 , 2017. These voters would elect their representatives for 16 assembly segments of Surat city and district .

This voter number is higher by 5, 87 460 lakh when compared to 2012 assembly polls .

Out of 16 assembly constituencies maximum number of voters are registered in Kamrej that has 4,26, 561 voters whereas Choryasi has 4, 14, 313 voters. Smallest assembly seat is that of Surat North that has just 1,56, 836 voters.

To keep model code of conduct in force , district collector and chief district election officer said that he has appointed 53 flying squads, 57 static surveillance teams, 42 video surveillance teams , 20 video viewing teams , 16 accounting and 31 MCC team. In all 219 teams are set up and have started their jobs .



If anyone is carrying more than Rs 50,000 including candidates , it would be seized whereas star campaigner would also be allowed to carry Rs 1 lakh at the most. Income -Tax department would get in action is Rs 10 lakh or more is found from anywhere.

In Surat city and district there will be 29063 first time voters . District election commission has also set up a booth each in all 16 assembly constituencies run and operated by women .

In Surat city and district on the day of polling 26382 employees of district administration would be given duties.

In all 4397 EVM's and VVPAT machines would be used in this election in Surat city and district .
