Surat: South Gujarat Commercial Tax Bar Association (SGCTBA), Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and power loom weavers will register their protest in a unique way by asking the officials at the Goods and Service Tax Suvidha Kendra (GSK) here to fill details of GSTR-2 on GST portal on Friday to experience the difficulties that they are facing.
Hundreds of commercial tax consultants from south Gujarat have boycotted filing of the GSTR-2 returns due to technical snag in the GST portal and the cumbersome process of providing detailed descriptions of the traded goods.
On Friday, tax consultants, traders and power loom weavers will be visiting the GSK located at Bahumali building at Nanpura with details of their business transactions in pen drives. The traders and tax consultants will give the pen drives to GSK officials to upload and file GSTR-2 on the portal to experience the difficulties that they are facing in doing so.
SGCTBA president Prashant Shah said, "During his last visit to the Diamond City, revenue secretary Hasmukh Adhia had stated at a public event that tax consultants and traders would have to press just one key and their returns will be uploaded and filed on the GST portal. Ironically, we have been pressing the keys for 10 to 15 times, yet not able to file the returns. Thus, we have boycotted the filing of GSTR-2 returns. We will visit the GSK and ask the officials there to file the returns for us on the portal."
CAIT's Gujarat president Pramod Bhagat said, "The traders and other taxpayers are worried as they have been unable to file their returns for August and September on the GST portal. The portal is not at all working properly. Thus, we thought if the portal is working properly at GSK, we will visit there to file our GSTR-2 returns."
