Surat: A 32-year-old woman, who is resident of Mumbai, approached Udhna police in the city alleging that her husband has kidnapped their two daughters and disappeared. She alleged that her husband has gone to live with another woman and taken along their daughters with him.
Police have registered a missing person complaint and began efforts to locate her husband and their two daughters. A complaint of kidnapping was not registered against the woman's husband since he is father of the girls, the police said.
Annpurna Thakkar, a resident of Kandivali in Mumbai, had come to stay at her sister's residence in Udhna with her two daughters. Her husband Vipul, a textile shop owner, came to meet her on October 25 and took their daughters aged 4 and 7 with him. He claimed that he was taking the girls to a cybercafe for some work, but did not return, the police said.
"I went to check at Mumbai the same night, but did not find him at our house. I came to know that he has run away with a girl who worked in his shop. I have no idea where my daughters and husband are. I was not aware that my husband was having an affair with a woman employee. Police are trying to trace his location," Annapurna said.
"It cannot be considered a case of kidnapping as the woman is alleging because the man happens to be the two girls' father. We have registered a complaint of missing person and started investigations to trace the man and the two girls," the police added. Surat and Mumbai police are trying to trace the woman's missing husband and their daughters.
