Surat: Passengers flying to the national capital from Surat airport between November 7 and November 10 may face flight cancellations with the Delhi airport shutting for surface repair work of one of its three runways.
Air India, which operates daily morning and evening Airbus between Surat and Delhi, has stated that the flights will remain cancelled from November 7 to November 9 due to closure of the main runway at Delhi airport for repair works.
"The AI has decided to cancel the morning and evening Airbus operations between Delhi and Surat for three days starting November 7 and that the morning operation on November 10 will also remain cancelled. The decision has been taken as the main runway is shut due to repair works," an AI official said.
Sources said the period of October and November is the start of the peak season for airlines, especially in Surat. A flight disruption during this period could collectively translate into huge losses in revenue for an airline. However, SpiceJet, which also operates daily flights between Surat and Delhi, is yet to announce cancellation of its flights to Delhi.
