Surat: Seven people of two families sustained injuries in a gas cylinder blast that took place in a closed grocery store at Chanod near Vapi town in Valsad district on Friday morning. Dungra police officials said those injured included two-year-old Harsh Sharma, five-year-old Mahima Sharma, Sanjiv Nishad (19), Pradip Nishad (25), Jaynarayan Singh (54), Azadi Devi Bharti (24) and Subodh Singh (40). Police said there was a leak in LPG cylinder and a short circuit in the shop led to the blast. There was large plumes of smoke from the shop and people from neighbouring areas began to run helter-skelter. "No one has sustained serious injury. The injured were treated at Hariya Hospital of Vapi and all are fine," a police officer said. tnn
