SURAT: Movement of five robbers was caught on CCTV camera when they targeted a diamond trading unit in Varachha on Friday late evening. The robbers seem to be entering the office in Mini Bazaar, a diamond market in Varachha area of city, fearlessly. They left the office with cash amounting to Rs 5,000 since the valuable diamonds were not present in the office.
The robbery carried out fearlessly has put a question mark on police's claim of increased patrolling during festive season in the city. The gang targeted the office in busy Mini Bazaar diamond market that deals in diamonds worth millions daily.
Police booked five unidentified persons in Varachha police station on Friday . The robbers carried out the loot keeping a gun. Police booked the accused following complaint of Mehul Dholraiya, accountant of diamond trading unit of Odhavji Nariya.
In the CCTV footages faces of each robber is clearly visible. Police are yet to identify the involved accused. Of the two employees present in the office no one suffered injury.
The robbers have entered in the office and tied hands of Dholariya and Rajesh, peon at the office, using a rope. On not finding any diamond they escaped with cash found from a bag.
