Rahul to discuss GST issues with meet textile traders in city today

Surat: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi would visit Surat again and meet textile traders and industrialists whose businesses have been hit by Goods and Services Tax (GST) on November 8. Rahul's personal staff has finalized this programme and not the All India Congress Committee (AICC), the sources said. The visit has been planned before the GST Council's meeting in Guwahati on November 10, where it is expected to consider lowering of tax rates on a host of items and also simplify return filing rules. Surat city Congress president Hasmukh Desai said Rahul would be meeting textile traders at Sanjeev Kumar auditorium at 5 pm on Wednesday. He would later visit a couple of textile units in the city and NTM market on Ring Road to listen to the grievances of textile traders with regard to the GST. Rahul would also participate in a candle march to be organized by Youth Congress against demonetization, which marks its one year on Wednesday. The candle march would be held from Mahatma Gandhi statue to Chowk Bazaar. Rahul was in the city during his Navsarjan Yatra in parts of south Gujarat last week. tnn
