Surat: A 46-year-old constable of traffic police jumped from the second floor of office building of deputy commissioner of police (traffic) here on Tuesday. He was shifted to a private hospital with serious internal injuries in a 108 ambulance but declared out of danger. Doctors said he had suffered serious injuries in waist.
Prakash Patil jumped from the second floor of the office for some unknown reason. He first went to meet senior police officers at the police commissioner office and then came to the DCP office at Athwalines. However, he could not meet any officer since they were not present.
Police sources said Patil jumped after blaming his colleagues for being partial in assigning him duty. Meanwhile, his colleagues said Patil led a stressful life and was irregular at work. He was recently transferred to police headquarters as punishment for remaining absent from the spot of his duty as traffic cop.
After a few days at the headquarters, he was transferred back to traffic police four days ago. He wanted posting at a better location, sources said. "I am not aware about the exact reason why the constable took this step. We will find out the reason. I came to know that he was living a stressful and tense life," DCP, traffic, B R Pandor said.tnn
