SURAT: Sitting MLA from Majura constituency Harsh Sanghvi, who once again got party ticket this year, staged a protest at the Congress office at Nanpura on Wednesday by distributing tea to oppose the Congress Youth wing's Chai-Wala jibe on social networking sites.
On Wednesday, BJP workers along with Sanghavi reached the Congress office at Nanpura and shouted slogans against the party. Sanghavi and his workers were carrying tea kettle and they offered tea to the Congress workers.
At one point, the Congress and BJP workers came face to face and indulged in heavy slogan shouting. While the Congressmen were shouting 'Rahul, Rahul', the BJP workers shouted 'Modi, Modi'.
Talking to TOI, Sanghavi said, "The Chai-wala jibe on PM shows the frustration level in Congress as the dates for elections nears. They (Congress) are indulging in loose politics by targeting PM. We will not tolerate this and demand an apology from Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for humiliating PM."
Congress spokesperson, Aslam Cyclewala said, "The BJP workers could have protested on the streets, rather than coming to the Congress office and creating ruckus. Had there been some skirmishes, the entire responsibility would have been of the Majura BJP candidate. The post has been deleted, but BJP is looking for some issues for the Gujarat elections."
Congress party's youth wing had posted a meme with photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Theresa May. The dialogue show the PM Modi mispronouncing "meme", which is being corrected by US President, and May stating, "You stick to selling tea".
