Surat: Three persons were booked at Puna police station on Friday for kidnapping and robbing a 36-year-old resident of Katargam for demanding his money back that he had lent to one of them some time ago.
Amat Chaudhary and his two associates were booked for allegedly kidnapping and robbing complainant Rakesh Chapaneriya, who was called by the former to meet him near Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) on October 16, from where the accused kidnapped him in their car.
The accused later thrashed Chapaneriya and robbed him of a gold chain worth Rs 40,000 and Rs 8,000 cash before throwing him on a road from the vehicle. The victim did not register a complaint initially fearing attack, but later decided to contact police to recover the money that he had lent to the accused.
Chapaneriya claimed in his complaint that Chaudhary was working with him on sari folding job and they became friends. Chaudhary borrowed Rs 3 lakh from Chapaneriya in 2016 and Rs 4 lakh again after a few months claiming that his wife was seriously ill. Chapaneriya started pressurizing him to return his money, which made the accused to kidnap the former.
