Yogi Adityanath woos migrant voters in Surat

SURAT: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath attacked Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for adopting a soft Hindutva posture during campaigning for the assembly elections in Gujarat.

"The same method of campaigning was tried by Congress in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in 2016. He sat in Kashi Vishwanath temple like he was offering a namaz. The priest had to correct his stance," Yogi Adityanath said at a public meeting here in the city on Sunday. He addressed two public meetings in the migrant-dominated areas of the city so as to woo voters from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Yogi Adityanath was busy campaigning in Uttar Pradesh for the civic polls there, but the BJP brought him here to ensure that the migrant voters exercise their right to franchise in the saffron party's favour. He had visited south Gujarat in October too to participate in Gujarat Gaurav Yatra of BJP.

Yogi Adityanath said Congress government had taken the decision to destroy Ram Setu and thus Rahul Gandhi's visit to Gujarat was steeped in hypocrisy in view of the upcoming elections. The Uttar Pradesh chief minister compared Sardar Patel with Lord Ram who united the entire country.

He claimed the entire world's focus was on Gujarat election which was an acid test for people working for the good of the country and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for trying to unite the nation through Gujarat model. People from different regions live peacefully and with dignity in Gujarat, Yogi Adityanath said.

Yogi Adityanath praised voters for electing BJP government in the past in Gujarat and appealed to them to elect the party candidate Sangeeta Patil with a massive mandate. He recalled people of Gujarat's support to BJP in 2014 elections and asked for the same support from them. He asked the voters to keep Congress out of power.

Yogi Adityanath addressed two public meetings in Limbayat and Pandesara areas of Surat. Majority of the population in these areas are labourers. BJP workers did not have to make an effort to bring crowds because of Yogi Adityanath's popularity.
