SURAT: Umra police booked a 30-year-old married woman and her family for allegedly cheating her businessman husband of Rs 61 lakh that she had taken for investment. The woman allegedly took money and gold from her husband, but did not return them.
Karnav alleged that Shweta spent the money which he had deposited in her and family members' bank accounts.
He also claimed that he had deposited Rs 34.46 lakh in their accounts over a period of time. Later, the accused also took a gold coin worth Rs 18.75 lakh from Karnav and his mother for an investment and refused to return it. According to Karnav, she earned Rs 6.21 lakh profit on the investment.
Police investigation revealed that there are marital disputes between the couple and they had opted for legal course against each other in the past too.Shweta is presently living in Indore.
The couple got married in 2011 and have two daughters. In July 2017, the dispute started between the two and they started living separately. "We are collecting evidences related to the complaint. Statements of all the concerned will be registered," the police said.
