SURAT: Exhorting people to vote overwhelmingly for BJP, actor and MP Paresh Rawal said here on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was an 'reincarnation' of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel even as he described Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's temple visits as a sham.
Targeting the Gandhi scion, Rawal said, "In Gujarat, Rahul is visiting temples. But has he ever visited the Akshardham temple in Delhi which is just behind his house?."
"You would have never heard slogans of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' or Vande Mataram' from him during campaigning. " he said, accusing Gandhi of fomenting communal tension in the country by participating in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) protests. "There he joined the slogans of 'Bharat ke tukde tukde honge..insha Allah. (India will be divided into pieces, Allah willing," he claimed.
The actor also claimed that the after 2002, Congress wanted to see Modi behind the bars but all their plots failed and he went on to become the Prime Minister.
He said Congress only knows how to indulge in corruption through scams like 2G, CWG and chopper scandals.
Rawal visited the city to campaign for BJP's Surat (West) candidate Purnesh Modi in Palanpur Jakatnaka area. "When you go to the polling booth on December 9, think whether you want your son or daughter to become like Narendra Modi or Rahul Gandhi. Modi is an avtaar (reincarnation) of Sardar Patel," Rawal said, addressing a public rally.
He even described all those ridiculing the state's development in 'Vikas Gando Thayo Che' memes as 'donkeys. "If Rahul is also saying so, he should look Amethi where there is no iota of development," he said.
