Surat: A 32-year-old employee of a snacks shop was arrested by Mahidharpura police station officials for allegedly murdering his 40-year-old brother soon after an argument here on Tuesday.
Suresh alias Talja Hamirji Thakore was arrested for murdering his elder brother Kilaji alias Govindji Hamirji Thakore. The duo, natives of Bechraji in Mehsana, was employed and lived in Hariom Farshan Shop near Barfiwala College. The victim was asleep when the accused attacked him.
Suresh and Govind had an argument over some issue on Monday night. Suresh left the shop only to return at around 3am and hit Govind, who was asleep, on head with a blunt object. Govind woke up and tried to protect himself, but Suresh held his head and hit it on a table. The accused thought Govind was alive and feared he will kill him later and so strangled him with a mobile phone charger wire. Suresh later cleaned the blood in the shop where his brother lay dead and went to upper floor to sleep. Suresh informed shop owner Bharat Vadoliya at around 11.30am that he had murdered his brother after which police were alerted.
Police investigation revealed that Govind suspected Suresh of having an affair with his wife. The two had fought over this in the past too and again on Monday night. Govind's family lives in Ichhapore area of the city.
