22-year-old man arrested for raping 4-yr-old girl in Navsari

Surat: A 22-year-old man was arrested from an area under the limits of Jalalpore police station of Navsari district for raping a four-year-old girl on Saturday. The accused also subjected the minor girl to unnatural sex and later threw her on the railway tracks on Friday evening.
Accused Asif Hussain alias Guddu Ali Husain Pathan, a resident of Vejalpore of Navsari, is a native of Sant Kabir Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh.
He had arrived in Navsari in search of a job a few months ago. He was booked for rape, unnatural sex, kidnapping and under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act). Police will produce him in a local court on Sunday.
The minor girl, who was found crying on the railway track by local people, suffered injuries in her private parts and is under treatment in a hospital. Pathan had kidnapped the minor girl from outside her house.
The minor girl knew the accused since he lived in the neighbourhood. He told a woman living in the locality that he was taking the girl with him to play and will return soon. The accused was also seen by a boy who lived in the area. Police identified the accused on the basis of statements of the eyewitnesses.
Rumours of gang-rape of the minor created havoc in Navsari district. However, the police denied involvement of any other person in the crime. "The girl was kidnapped by the accused from outside her residence and he raped her. We have found eyewitnesses who had seen him taking the girl with him," superintendent of police, Navsari, Girish Pandya said.
