Five booked for driving married woman to suicide

SURAT: Police have booked five persons, including a man and his two brothers, for allegedly driving his wife to suicide in September.
Priyanka Rathi had hanged herself to death at her in-laws house in Sunrise Apartment in Parvat Patiya area on September 26. Her mother Saroj Pani, who lives in Nagpur, lodged a complaint with Puna police station naming Priyanka's husband Naresh, his brothers Dharmendra and Ganesh, his brother-in-law and her nephew Guru, for torturing her physically and mentally. The complaint was lodged on Tuesday.
Pani told the police that her daughter couldn't take the torture any more and committed suicide. Earlier, police had registerd a case of accidental death. "We have not arrested any of the five accused, but started investigation and recording of statements. Once the preliminary investigation is completed, we may start making arrests," a police official from Puna said. Priyanka was married few years ago to Naresh Rathi, who works as a casual labourer.
