Bagul, a resident of Bhestan, was attacked when he had gone to buy liquor in Maan Darwaja area.
Police said Bagul was blinded and dumped on public road in Khatodara area where he lay unattended for over two hours. He was later taken to New Civil Hospital (NCH) by passerbys, where he was operated upon. Doctors at NCH said Bagul's eyes had sustained heavy damage and there was possibility that he may not be able to see again.
Bagul's wife Pooja alleged that her husband was attacked by Hitesh and his friend. She informed the police that Bagul used to drink liquor at the residence of Parul often. She further alleged in her complaint that Parul's son Hitesh suspected that Bagul was having an affair with his mother.
On Thursday when Hitesh saw Bagul at his house, he became furious and attacked him with his friend. Hitesh pierced Bagul's eyes with his fingers and then thrashed him with sticks. The accused duo took Bagul on their motorcycle and threw him near Khatodara Colony.
Bagul was brought to NCH by 108 ambulance after some passerby alerted them.
"Police are investigating the case. He went to meet the woman and so far we have no details if Bagul went there to buy liquor," in-charge deputy commissioner of police, zone II, B R Pandor said.
