He cares for the Bhandari family like their son

Tragedy struck the Bhandaris when their son Harsh, a class X student, died after falling off a tempo seven years ago. With great courage, they decided to donate his organs. Harsh's kidney ensured that Mayur Katariya, then 20, lived on. Now, Katariya, an imitation jewellery shop owner living near Baroda Pristage in Varaccha, is akin to a son for Rajendra Bhandari, Harsh's father.
"Tuesday was the happiest day of my life as Harsh's sister Urja came to my house for the first time after marriage. She is just like my own sister," said Mayur.
Mayur's family sees a distinct change in his attitude towards life after the kidney transplant. Earlier, he was a happy-go-lucky person who cared little for the world around him. However, after bonding with Harsh's family, he has become very emotional and protective about both families.
"I have a family that God gave me and I am lucky that I have another one to add to that," he said.
Rajendra Bhandari, Harsh's father, said, "Seeing Mayur, I feel my son is still alive. He never makes me feel the loss of my son."
In fact, Mayur's brother and sister too have undergone kidney transplants.
