During an election campaign meeting in a village, Dhodiya was asked about incomplete work of toilets in village by 24-year-old Janvika Patel and a unemployed electrical engineer Amit Patel (22).
In reply, the BJP MLA asked them to come home and the entire issue was captured on video. When asked about his inability to reply or hear the problem of the villagers, Dhodiya claimed that the youth follows Naxal ideology. While the argument was going on, another man from the village Jaymit recorded it on his mobile phone.
The video shows Janvika standing in way of Dhodhiya when he tried to leave the meeting and firmly asked, "Where should we go. The toilets are such that it cannot be used."
"The construction of toilets has not completed in absence of proper drainage system. Villagers were being made to sign toilet completion papers. When we asked the MLA to come and see this, he asked us to come home," Amit said.
"Instead of giving reply to my friend, Jaymit was kidnapped and thrashed," Amit added. Along with Amit there were few other youths from the village who raised questions. After the meeting on Thursday, the video went viral and few hours later Jaymit, who shot the video, was allegedly kidnapped in a car and assaulted.
This happened when he was hanging out with his friend on outskirts of the village. Rohan Chaudhary, Shailesh Chaudhary and Vicky alias Chako Vikram Patel allegedly kidnapped him in a car. He was later dropped near a canal from where Jaymit's father rescued him.
Jaymit's father Gokul was attacked when he tried to rescue his son and suffered injuries. Gokul lodged complaint with Mahuva police station against the accused, while a counter complaint was lodged by one of the attacker Vicky against Gokul.
"Those who asked the question follow Naxal ideology and want Congress to win. I can't stop at each meeting spot to listen to problems. None of my supporter is involved in the attack. It was internal dispute among two groups," Dhodiya told TOI over the phone.
