Three parked buses catch fire in Pal

SURAT: Three parked buses got engulfed in flames in Pal area under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday night while it was raining in the city. A complaint of loss of around Rs 10 lakh has been lodged with Adajan police by the owner of the buses.

There were four buses owned by Dolphin Travels parked in a ground in Pal on Tuesday. While the bus drivers were chatting in the parking area, they noticed fire in three buses. They drove the buses out of the parking area, but failed to control the fire.

Bhupendra Chauhan, a resident of Pal, lodged a complaint with the police. The drivers could not explain how the buses caught fire, but they informed the police that some boys from nearby slums could have entered the bus and done something that led to fire.

Police suspect that the boys could have entered into the buses parked to take shelter from rain. However, police are yet to confirm if the boys caused the fire. A team of forensic science laboratory (FSL) experts were called to examine the buses.

"Only after FSL team report arrives, the reason for fire will be known. We are questioning those present around to find out if some suspicious movement was noticed by anyone," the police said.
