SURAT: Police investigation in the alleged case of rape of a 16-year-old girl from Amroli area of the city revealed on Tuesday that she had fabricated the story. She told police during questioning that she had lied about getting raped to avoid being punished for running away from home on being scolded by her parents.
A man Ajay and three others, including a woman, were booked on Sunday at Amroli police station for alleged kidnapping and rape of the minor girl, who alleged that she was kidnapped and raped on Saturday night.
She confessed during cross questioning that she had fabricated the story. She told police that she suffered injuries in a road accident when she went out with a friend on a scooter earlier. Her parents scolded her for the injuries. She again went to her boyfriend's home and stayed there overnight. Her boyfriend's family member dropped her at railway station next day and instructed her to go home. However, she went to the residence of a relative, who took her home to her parents. There, her parents asked her where she was since last two days. To escape being scolded again, she lied that she was kidnapped and raped. She named Ajay, a former neighbour, with whose family her parents had enmity. She tried to establish that because the families had dispute, the police said.
The minor had earlier alleged that she was near her house when Ajay and his aides came in an autorickshaw and made her smell something. She lost consciousness and regained it at 4 am on Sunday to find herself naked in an apartment. One of the accused then dropped her at Utran railway station from where she contacted her parents, she had then alleged.
