Surat: BJP president Amit Shah said Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born in Karamsad, but he came to be known as Sardar because of the leadership that he displayed in the Satyagrah at Bardoli. The BJP president was in Bardoli to campaign for party candidate Iswar Parmar, who is seeking a second term in the house.
Shah said Congress has done gross injustice to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and it was his party that got Sardar's picture installed in Sansad Bhawan. "It was BJP that installed Sardar Patel's picture in Sansad Bhawan. Congress had ignored Sardar Patel for so many years, but now wants to get votes in his name," he said.
Congress also did grave injustice to the people of Gujarat and always practised politics of caste.
He slammed Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Shah said, "Three generations of Gandhi families got elected from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, but still could never set up a district collectorate there. Now they come here and demand an account of development activities undertaken in Gujarat. They must know large number of people from other states come to Gujarat for employment and the state has always been magnanimous towards migrants."
Shah also spoke of steps taken by BJP governments for the development of nation and state of Gujarat. Shah asked people not to become victims of lies being proffered by Congress.
