NCW chief in city to probe Patidar woman’s plaint

Surat: National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Rekha Sharma visited the city on Monday to meet a person, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, in a complaint related to alleged sexual exploitation of a woman by Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leader Hardik Patel. NCW took police support to meet the person.

Earlier, NCW had issued a statement about Sharma's visit to the city. The written complaint received by NCW said that a woman from Surat wants to share details about her exploitation provided her confidentiality is maintained. The complaint was sent by a person who was in touch with the exploited woman.

NCW did not disclose details about the woman allegedly sexually exploited by the Patidar leader, NCW took help of the city police to locate the person who had contacted it. The person had become unreachable in the past few days. The person's mobile phone, too, had been switched off. However, the city police managed to locate the person, the police sources said. This was second complaint which was received by NCW against Hardik. "NCW did not discuss any details with the police. It just took our help to locate a person," city police commissioner Satish Sharma said.
